“Celebrating International Coffee Day in Vanuatu – ‘From the tree to the cup’ at the Tanna Coffee Roastery”
The independent South Pacific nation of Vanuatu has a long history of Arabica Coffee production dating back over 150 years, with the first recorded coffee trees grown at Port Resolution on the southern Island of Tanna.
The Tanna Coffee Development Company is an internationally recognised brand that is synonymous with this small but vibrant local Industry and will celebrate the ‘International Coffee Day’ with an open house, fun-filled day of ‘All Things Coffee’ at their Roastery & Processing Centre located in the national capital of Port Vila.
Intended activities for the day will be detailed information & educational displays on coffee growing, harvesting, processing and roasting from the ‘Tree to the Cup’, along with practical demonstrations on the various methods of coffee brewing, espresso making and some latte art, as well as some Children’s ‘Coffee sack’ races.
The overall event will culminate in a local ‘Barista Championship’ that will be open to all-comers from the many Cafe’s, Hotels and Resorts sourced from within Vanuatu’s Tourism and Hospitality Industries.
Tanna Coffee’s overall mission is to expand & develop the Vanuatu Coffee Industry through empowering hundreds of small-holder farmers to maximise the opportunity for value-addition processing, that will greatly improve their incomes and elevate overall living standards for themselves and their communities.
This event will be jointly sponsored by ‘Vanuatu Brewing Limited’, who are Tanna Coffee’s local coffee distributor and are also the producers of Vanuatu’s famous ‘Tusker’ beer.
